Business & Pleasure Secures $16 Million Investment From Silas Capital To Expand Luxury Outdoor Furniture Line

On March 5, 2025, furniture and lifestyle brand Business & Pleasure announced a $16 million minority growth investment led by Silas Capital. After a standout year in 2024—featuring a collaboration with supermodel Elsa Hosk and a licensing agreement with Margaritaville—the brand, already a favorite among interior designers, design enthusiasts, and content creators, is on its way to becoming a household name.

Enter Silas Capital

The partnership with Silas marks the first time the luxury outdoor furniture brand is taking on capital. Co-founder and president of Business & Pleasure, Ollie Edwards, told me, “Business & Pleasure has been bootstrapped since day one. So, we took a slow and considered approach to finding the right partner—speaking with more than twenty investment firms before settling on Silas.”

Since its launch in 2016, Business & Pleasure has become one of the few outdoor furniture brands offering luxury pieces, from dining sets to pool lounge chairs, with a vintage-inspired aesthetic. Featuring scalloped-edged coated steel frames, brightly colored cushions, and tassel-accented umbrellas, these pieces add a stylish touch, whether poolside or on a chic city rooftop.

“We’ve worked hard to redefine the landscape of al fresco living, creating pieces that speak to everyone from the casual weekend beachgoer to the most discerning high-end hospitality design firms. We worked equally as hard to find the perfect partner for B&P’s next stage of growth, and we’re proud to be part of the Silas Capital portfolio. We look forward to working with Brian, Carter, and the team. The partnership means everything to me and Lachlan, and as founders, we really appreciate Silas’ respect and great taste for next-generation consumer brands. It’s the start of a very exciting new chapter for Business & Pleasure,” said Edwards.

Silas, which has funded some of the trendiest and most successful brands in the lifestyle space—including Makeup By Mario, Vacation, Ilia, Boll & Branch, Casper, and Summersalt—is equally excited, especially because this is the first time they are funding an outdoor furniture brand.

“Business & Pleasure has redefined luxury in the outdoor space, blending elevated design with functionality in a way that truly resonates with today’s home enthusiast consumer,” said Brian Thorne, Partner at Silas Capital. “The team’s dedication to craftsmanship and design excellence—while always maintaining the brand’s distinct identity—has set them apart in a competitive, yet uninspired market. We are thrilled to support Ollie and Lach in their next phase of growth, as they continue to expand their assortment and bring their timeless aesthetic to more homes and hotels around the world.”

The Business Of Business & Pleasure

While Edwards told me that furniture is typically a bland category, he seeks to make it more exciting. “We provide the color and fun.”

However, there’s also a level of sophistication in the brand’s designs that feels like a callback to a different time, yet current and perfect for social media. This is all a part of the founders’ vision. “We develop products from the ground up, with a 100 percent custom design, including our IP, Pleasuretex fabrication.”

Sold more like a lifestyle brand than furniture, pieces are available on Business & Pleasure’s website as well as through popular retailers, including Anthropologie, Revolve, Lulu & Georgia, Serena & Lily, Pottery Barn, and West Elm.

While it has been mostly a direct-to-consumer brand until now, Business & Pleasure has grown exponentially in the hospitality space, adding new properties every month, including Four Seasons, Belmond, The Colony Hotel, and Soho House. This cash infusion will allow them to fill both residential and commercial orders, as well as fund other ventures.

What’s Next for Business & Pleasure

While many launches can’t be publicly shared yet, the brand plans to debut a second collection with Hosk as well as launch a new collection with influencer Julia Berolzheimer.
